About

It started because our son wanted to do jiu jitsu.

The gym ran CrossFit at the same hour as his class. I could sit in the lobby or I could train. I trained, and it changed the direction of my life.

In my own words

"I fell in love with fitness years ago. It started when our son wanted to do Jujitsu and the gym had CrossFit at the same time as his class. I began to see and feel the strength I had physically and mentally. I went on and tried many other forms of fitness but always stayed with the love of weights and barbells. Then realized that the nutrition side is just as important as the fitness side. It fuels everything. I began trying macros and fell in love with the ability to not loose my favorite foods even though I'm training or whatever goal I had at the time. Once I saw how that weightlifting changes my whole mindset, from physical and emotional, I realized this was my passion!"Bess Edgell, Formed Fuel Fitness & Nutrition

Coaching as a practice

I do not hand anyone a copied program. Coaching is a craft I work at: I try something with you, we watch what your body and your week say back, and we shape the next block from that. My own experimentation is where it came from. I struggle with a food allergy and had to learn to navigate it to reach my goals, so building a plan around what a real person can actually eat is not theory for me. Add travel and being outside, which we love, and you get the whole method: strength work, some cardio, WODs, and nutrition that survives a life you enjoy.

What I coach is a mix of weightlifting and some cardio, building WODs and nutrition. Whether it is macros, gluten free or Paleo, the approach serves you. You do not serve the approach.

Tell me where you are right now.
